Athletic Performance Engineer

Bay Area born and raised, Michael Neal Jr. extended his dominance at the youth and high school level by playing at City College of San Francisco, winning a state title with the rams before earning a scholarship to the University of Nebraska at Kearney. At Kearney he was a two time all conference defensive back and one time All American for the Lopers.

After graduating from The University of Nebraska at Kearney Mike was hired full time as a sports performance and speed coach at Gamespeed.  Three years later, and after years of tutelage from Aaron Thigpen, Michael found himself starting Real Neal Football @ Gamespeed, a branch within Gamespeed geared to Michael's first love and passion, football.

In 2012 Mike went out on his own with Real Neal Sports, a complete performance training business geared to all sports and all fitness levels.  He was also hired by International High School in San Francisco as the sole performance trainer for all the student athletes.  He conceptualized and incorporated into the curriculum a comprehensive fitness and training program and organized and conducted all aspects of conditioning and training for student-athletes. He implemented and taught a middle school physical education curriculum and went on to introduce sport specific training for each sport on campus which included: Basketball, Volleyball, Track and Field, Fencing, Baseball, Swimming, Tennis, Badminton and Sailing.

In 2016 Mike began Real Neal Academy, a program designed by athletes for athletes. Real Neal Academy is a non-profit organization that works to help student/athletes accomplish their goals. RNA provides training, tutoring, unofficial group college visits, and opportunities to work with top educators, athletes and community activists in the Bay Area.

Assistant Athletic Performance Engineer

Sports has been a part of my life from the beginning. I grew up playing football, basketball, baseball and swimming. I went on to play football at the University of Redlands, graduating in December of 2016.

In my years as an athlete working with Real Neal Sports, I learned the importance of attention to detail and how consistently doing the little things can bring one to greatness. Now that I have finished with my athletic career, I have switched to the other side of things. I am looking to teach everything I learned from Mike Neal to the next generation.

As an Assistant Performance Engineer for Real Neal Sports, my experience as a player has given me greater understanding of the training process and the positive results you get from diligently working through that process. It is good to be able to give back what I have learned. I hope to instill my attitude of hard work, dedication, and attention to detail to all of our student athletes.
